Sandalwood Perfumes

Creamy, milky, calm

Sandalwood is creamy, soft, and milky, a smooth wood that sits close to the skin and anchors florals, spices, and musks without overwhelming them. It's one of the most universally wearable woods in perfumery, which makes it a common base note even in fragrances that aren't marketed as woody. Real sandalwood, particularly Mysore-origin, is rare and increasingly scarce, so how a house sources or recreates that creaminess says a lot about its craft.

BDK Parfums' Gris Charnel and Amouage's Guidance both use sandalwood as a warm, grounding base beneath spicier or more floral top notes. BDK's Impadia leans on it for a soft, radiant finish.
