Amouage Decision Review: Lightning, Juniper & the Fresh Incense You'll Reach for Daily

A bolt of lightning. A juniper tree. One decision to make.

Amouage Decision is a 2025 woody aromatic Eau de Parfum by perfumer Quentin Bisch: 33% perfume oil, aged five weeks, with pink pepper, bergamot and cardamom over frankincense, myrrh and juniper, resting on cedarwood, patchouli and vanilla. It is bright, resinous and easy to wear, and it is the original behind the 2026 Decision 42 Extrait.

What is Amouage Decision?

Decision is a unisex fragrance from Amouage, the High Perfumery house founded in the Sultanate of Oman in 1983. Quentin Bisch built it around a single image: lightning striking a juniper tree, and the question of whether the tree is destroyed or finds a deeper, more enduring life. In scent terms that means a cool, bright, mineral opening that settles into smoky resins and a warm vanilla finish. Reviewers often call it more approachable than a typical Amouage release.

The Eau de Parfum is made at 33% perfume oil and aged for five weeks: three weeks of maceration and two of maturation.

Fresh on the way in, smoky resin in the heart, warm vanilla on the way out.

How does Decision smell?

It opens cool and bright: cardamom, bergamot and pink pepper give a citrus, almost mineral sparkle. The heart turns resinous, with frankincense and myrrh against the green bite of juniper. Atlas cedarwood adds a clean sheen, and a warm vanilla closes the scent. Overall it reads as an incense and woods fragrance that stays fresh rather than heavy.

Performance: longevity and projection

Across more than 500 reviews on Fragrantica, Decision averages about 4.3 out of 5. Most wearers report very strong projection and wear of 12 hours or more, and several suggest one or two sprays are plenty. Use a light hand in warm weather.

Is Decision divisive? What reviewers say

  • Fans praise the fresh citrus opening, the resinous incense drydown and how easy it is to wear across occasions and seasons.
  • Critics find the opening a little medicinal, soapy or metallic, or the drydown too sweet. A few compare the incense to a church or to cleaning products.
  • Season: opinions split. Many wear it year-round, while others find it best in cooler weather.

Our advice is the same as for any strong fragrance: try it on skin first. Ask for a sample in any of our stores, or shop Decision online.
