Roja

A chypre wrapped in cashmere. Roja, from Roja Parfums, is a scent to which there is no compare. Roja Dove describes it as a chypre wrapped in cashmere, for the way it settles on the wrist as softly and smoothly as the fabric slides across skin. The world's finest rose and jasmine meet a lightly powdery orris over a natural chypre bed centered on the dry warmth of oakmoss.

The Story

Roja is a personal creation by Roja Dove, made from the materials he loves most and offered as a pure parfum. The house releases it on his birthday, 25 September, and the flecks of gold in the formula are described as a playful touch rather than a precious ingredient. A sumptuous base sets the sensuality of leather and ambergris against the balsamic sweetness of benzoin and vanilla, a chypre as indulgent as perfumery itself.

How It Smells

Opening
Bergamot gives a fresh first lift before the fragrance quickly turns rich, warm and complex. The citrus brightness fades into a luxurious floral core where rose and jasmine feel smooth, slightly powdery and perfectly blended.

Heart
Rose de Mai, Jasmin de Grasse and ylang ylang deepen the composition. Warm spices, ginger, cinnamon and clove, add a subtle heat, while oakmoss, woods and resins build a dark, textured foundation.

Dry Down
A soft amber sweetness runs through the whole composition: benzoin, vanilla, labdanum, ambergris and leather make it feel rich, smooth and refined, a vintage-minded, ultra-luxury chypre.
