A Grove by The Sea

A Grove by The Sea by Arquiste is a radiant, aromatic fragrance of fig leaf, olive, fleur de sel and clementine, deepening into thyme, rosemary and a resinous grove of pine, fir and cypress. Created with perfumer Rodrigo Flores Roux, it feels luminous, serene and effortlessly sophisticated.
Arquiste found its inspiration on Lopud, an island of the Elaphiti archipelago near Dubrovnik, Croatia: an evergreen landscape of fig and olive groves, pine and cypress forests and wild herbs, with a story set on the island in August 1508. The perfume captures that Mediterranean charm in an elegant, airy composition, for lovers of refined, coastal freshness.
Opening
Fresh, green and sparkling: Adriatic fig leaves, black olive and Croatian clementine meet a salty fleur de sel accord, bringing citrus brightness and a briny coastal air.
Heart
An extra virgin olive oil accord, ripe fig, thyme and rosemary unfold in a leafy, aromatic heart, airy and green with a touch of fruit.
Dry Down
Mediterranean pine needle, fir balsam and cypress settle over warm red clay, a smooth, resinous finish with a gentle coastal warmth.

Almond Suede by Arquiste is a unisex gourmand leather eau de parfum where creamy bitter almond and honeycomb meet a velvety suede accord, saffron, orange flower and vanilla. Developed with perfumer Calice Becker, it is elegant yet comforting, sophisticated and intimate.
The perfume is inspired by medieval Andalusia, and especially Córdoba, where confectioners made almond marzipan scented with saffron and orange blossom while artisans crafted fine leather. Arquiste pairs the sweetness of the marzipan with the oaky character of leather as a symbol of cultural exchange, of harmony and sweetness.
Opening
Pink peppercorn and Italian bergamot sparkle over honeycomb absolute and bitter almond oil, a delicate sweetness that opens the scent softly.
Heart
Cistus concrete, North African neroli, a saffron accord and an orange flower accord bring warm florals and a velvety, resinous depth.

Indigo Smoke
Regular price $320.00Black tea and smoke drifting through the Wuyi Mountains. Indigo Smoke by Arquiste is a bold, atmospheric fragrance inspired by the smoking of tea leaves in ancient China. Bright citrus and aromatic herbs open the scent before it unfolds into dark lapsang souchong tea, incense, woods and a smooth leathery warmth. Created with master perfumer Calice Becker, it balances freshness with shadowy depth.
Arquiste founder Carlos Huber set the brief in May 1646 in the Wuyi Mountains of Fujian, where monks who grew tea and indigo fled an attack by Qing soldiers and, to preserve their crops, smoked the tea leaves over pinewood fires, an origin story for lapsang souchong. The fragrance evokes rivers, blue mountains and temples, and was composed with perfumer Calice Becker.
Opening
Bergamot and mandarin oil keep the opening lifted, with a lapsang souchong accord and vetiver introducing the smoke.
Heart
Apricot accord, cassia and carrot seed oil bring a dry fruitiness and spice, with guaiac wood adding a meditative, smoky woodiness.
Dry Down
Maté tea absolute, cedar leaf oil, pine tar and incense settle into a smooth, elegant, almost leathery warmth. The tea is dark, rich and slightly dry.

The concept follows things that go in and out of fashion. Patchouli was once prized, carried on Kashmiri shawls, then fell out of favor with the bourgeoisie, and Misfit reclaims it. Arquiste sets the scene in a September 1877 bedroom in Marseille, among bohemians and courtesans, with French lavender, musky ambers and exotic balsams. Developed with Rodrigo Flores-Roux.

Sydney Rock Pool by Arquiste is a bright, transportive fragrance inspired by sunlit ocean pools along the Australian coast. Mineral and marine accents, coconut skin and Australian sandalwood open the scent, while frangipani, jasmine and narcissus bloom over driftwood. Seaweed, sea salt and amber linger in the base.
The fragrance began as a bespoke, small-batch scent commissioned by Condé Nast Traveler for its Destination of the Year: Australia celebration in 2016, before developing into a full Arquiste fragrance. Carlos Huber wanted to capture swimming in Sydney's saltwater rock pools after a day in the sun, with the scent of warm, sun-soaked skin and a distinct coconut note, developed with Rodrigo Flores-Roux. The brand describes it as a mineral, ambery and subtly tropical scent.

A mineral accord and a coconut skin accord with Australian sandalwood give a crisp marine brightness.

Arquiste imagines an Art Deco smoking room in Mayfair in March 1930, with velvet banquettes and Art Deco marquetry, where architects gather over martinis and cigars and are joined by London's bright young things. The fragrance pairs a cool gin-like opening with a smoky vanilla and amber woody base. Perfumer Yann Vasnier, creative direction by Carlos Huber.

Arquiste drew on La Tropical, a modernist garden and pool in Mérida, Yucatán, where palms, ginger plants, birds of paradise and a guava tree surround the water.
